Systems Solutions

Lots of information exists about global problems, much less about systems thinking, but very little is devoted to uncovering effective systemic solutions to the world's most troubling problems. One reason is that most who study such problems focus on one or a few issues (which is how they become experts), rarely have but a cursory understanding of systems theory, and are most often overly focused on solving the problems for which they know the most about. Another reason, is that most of the leaders in political power that interact with global problems on a regular basis are ill-trained in science, know even less about systems thinking, and yet are making critical decisions that continue to shape how such problems unfold over time. A central mission of the Center is to promote systems thinking, and develop a framework that can be used broadly to better understand how global problems relate to one another, and identify ways in which they may be solved systemically. In the end, systems solutions are people solutions, and they require collaboration, respect for one another, and trust among many stakeholders.
